James J. Akard, Wife, and Daughters

Description

James J. Akard was born July 7, 1838, in Polk County, Missouri. He was captain of Company A, Eighth Missouri State Militia Cavalry during the Civil War. After the war he was elected to the state legislature and held other important Polk County positions including sheriff, collector and clerk of the county court. He died in 1919. Akard's wife's name was Keziah Adeline (September 11, 1847-November 2, 1925). His daughters were Ella May, the eldest, and Della E. On the reverse is written in faded ink, "....& Mrs. J. J. Akard, Fair Play, Mo."
