Photos and description of major events and trends, including economy (high national rankings in agriculture and manufacturing with high wages for city dwellers but difficult times for farmers, population (down to 9th largest), technological innovations (airplanes, home appliances), women's and black people's living conditions, noted authors (Langston Hughes, Zoe Akins, Harold Bell Wright, Homer Croy, et al.) and entertainers (Walt Disney), the Great Depression, political bossism, and the Jazz Age.
