AbstractPhotos and article about the recent (ca. 1960s-1970s) history of movie-making of "B" films in Kansas City, focusing on the experiences of producer-director Lamar Card in shooting the 1976 movie "The Student Body" in various parts of town. Description of the cast and set's lodging at the disheveled "downtown Hilton" hotel, recruiting for local actresses and actors at Kelly's Bar, and filming on 12th Street, 4438 Harrison Street, UMKC and Rockhurst Colleges, Main Street, Swope Park, and an East Kansas City "drag strip," etc. Photos and descriptions of Hollywood actors and directors involved here (Pam Grier, Fred Williamson, John Cassavetes, Warren Stevens, and Linda Lovelace) and movies planned or already filmed for local production here ("Bird Lives," "Mrs. Bridge," "Bucktown," and "Linda Lovelace for President").
