| Title | 'Bird's Return to the Vine |
| Abstract | Article previews the unveiling of the sculpture and tomb of Charlie "Bird" Parker at 17th and the Paseo in the historic 18th and Vine district. The monument to Parker, designed by artist Robert Graham, was unveiled and dedicated on March 27, 1999. |
| Notes | The author notes that Kansas City has, in the past, done a poor job of commemorating Charlie Parker. He states that upon Parker's death, the Kansas City Star ran only a small item (misspelling Parker's name), and his previous gravestones have been stolen at least twice. |
