Not available online
TitleCraig Rifles
NotesThe Craig Rifles, organized in 1877 by Henry H. Craig, was for 10 years the leading semi-military and social organization of Kansas City. The inception of the Craig Rifles came about through the great nation-wide railroad workers strike in that year and, in the beginning, all the members were brought together for the serious purpose of protecting homes and property from the depredations of rioters. When the trouble subsided, they continued as a social group. The balls and parties given were the smartest affairs of the social season.
