| Notes | In November 1894 the D. A. R., then only in the fourth year of its national existence, granted a charter to the first chapter in Missouri, the Elizabeth Benton chapter in Kansas City. The chapter was named after the wife of the distinguished U. S. senator from Missouri, Thomas Hart Benton. Ethel Allen was the organizer and served as the first regent. |
