| Description | Postcard of the Masonic Temple at Ninth and Harrison streets |
| Historical Article | The Masonic Temple at Ninth and Harrison streets, was said to be one of the most perfect architecturally, and one of the few temples of a purely Masonic character. Designed by J.C. Sunderland it was dedicated September 30, 1911.
The temple was built by the Kansas City Masonic Temple company. Members of the temple board: Leo Adler, Olaf A. Lucas, Thomas A. Milburn, W.F. Stine, Clarence A. Cheney, Henry S. Thayer, Edwin Dawson, James Frame, Frank B. Robinson, Van F. Boor, Charles W. Jones, W.M. Henderson, Herman E. Pearse and F.E. Bower.
A large dining hall, seating 400 persons, and a kitchen occupied the first floor. Offices of the secretary and other officers were on the second floor.
The third floor, with its Persian room, was of rich oriental beauty according to a Kansas City Journal story of September 30, 1911, and the description of the ornamental beamed ceiling, with electrical bulbs for illumination indicates that electricity was still a novelty.
An auditorium, with a seating capacity of 1,000, was lavishly decorated and halls were lined with light Vermont marble with dark green columns of the same material. Staircases were also of marble with landings of tile.
The fourth floor was used as an armory and storeroom.
The building is used today by seven Blue Lodges and 11 Eastern Star chapters.
