TitleDowntown, Northeast from R.A. Long Building
DescriptionPostcard view of Downtown Kansas City, looking Northeast from the roof of the R.A. Long Building at 10th and Grand
Historical ArticleAt the turn of the century post card publishers used many views of downtown Kansas City photographed from the tops of the tallest buildings.

Favorite locations for the cameramen were the roofs of the R. A. Long building, Y.M.C.A. and Baltimore Hotel.

This card, mailed in Kansas City in the summer of 1910 reads: Kansas City looking northeast from R. A. Long building, Kansas City, Mo.

At the left is the Scarritt building at 9th and Grand. It was one of Kansas City's first skyscrapers.

The domed Federal Building is in the center. It was located between 8th and 9th, Grand and McGee and was the main post office in 1990.

The spire of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church at 9th and Grand is in the foreground. The Missouri River is in the background.
