Convention Hall
Convention Hall
TitleConvention Hall
DescriptionPostcard of Kansas City's Convention Hall
Historical ArticleConvention Hall was hastily rebuilt, after a fire in 1900, for the Democratic National Convention. William Jennings Bryan was selected as nominee. Years later, in 1928, the hall housed the Republican National Convention, when Herbert Hoover was selected.

This old photographic post card, in black and white, was sent from Kansas City to Wm. Robinson, Secretary N.A.L.C., Joplin, Mo. in 1907.

Since postal regulations forbade writing on the address side of post cards at the time, the message was written by hand on the picture side. It reads: K.C. Mo., May 16, 1907. K.C. will have four del(egates) to state convention. Let you know later what train. E.R. Waters, sec.

Printed below was: Compliments Photo View Co. and at the bottom of the card, Hurrah Republican National Convention. Convention Hall, K.C., U.S.A.

Convention Hall was razed when the Municipal Auditorium was built in the 1930s and the site now is occupied by the Auditorium Garage.
