Historical Article: A 1909 post-card publisher titled this card Bankers' Row, Kansas City, Mo. It shows Tenth street at the intersection with Baltimore avenue. The First National Bank building, on the northeast corner, had been completed in 1906.
Seven other banking firms were in the area, according to the 1909 city directory:
Central National bank, 15 West Tenth.
National Bank of Commerce, Tenth and Walnut, northwest corner.
National Bank of the Republic, 1000 Walnut.
New England National Bank, Tenth and Baltimore, southeast corner.
Pioneer Trust company, Dwight building, Tenth and Baltimore, southwest corner.
United States & Mexican Trust Company, 928 Baltimore.
Commerce Trust company, Tenth and Walnut, northwest corner.
The Orient inn was on the northwest corner of Tenth and Baltimore. In the directory it was listed as Oriental Catering company, basement, U. S. Mexican Trust building.
One automobile is pictured here at the curb. A street car travels toward Main.
