The Missouri Valley Special Collections department strives to acquire, preserve, and provide access to research materials that document the history and heritage of the Kansas City region.  We welcome donations of materials that fall within the parameters of our Collection Development policy, such as photographs, scrapbooks, diaries, letters, postcards, yearbooks, organizational records, publications, programs, maps, and regional ephemera.  Donations are accepted based on condition, historical significance, and research potential.  Due to storage constraints, we are not able to accept three-dimensional objects.  Please contact Missouri Valley Special Collections at 701.816.3427 or lhistory@kclibrary.org to speak with a staff member before sending or dropping off donations.  Unsolicited items will be returned or discarded.

Gifts to Missouri Valley Special Collections can be made in many ways.  For more information, call the Kansas City Public Library Development Director at 816.701.3518.  Gifts and donations to the Library are tax deductible.
