George S. Park

Description: File containing a flyer or brochure with photos and information on the Museum of Park College, "the first museum in the Parkville area" and the former residence of Colonel George Shepard Park, or George Park (1811-1890), founder of Park College in 1875 and founder of the town of Parkville, Missouri, around 1839-1844. Born in Vermont and coming to Missouri around the 1830s before laying out Parkville in 1844 and becoming an antislavery journalist and Missouri state senator in 1866.
