Historical Article: State Suite, Hotel Muehlebach, Kansas City, Mo., a postcard published in pale green and white by E.C. Kropp Co., Milwaukee, Wisc., was one of a set issued at the time the hotel was opened in 1915.The bedroom pictured has been home to visiting presidents since the hotel was built. Furnishings of the historic room were replaced in 1976 and 1980. They are not included in the liquidation sale now in progress. The original furnishings of the room as pictured, enamled in ivory, with applied French garlands, included double beds, chiffionier, triple-mirored dressing table, caned wicker and upholstered chairs, coat hanger and a long library table. Flowered draperies at the windows completed the scene. For years Ray Cosgrove, a long-time bellman at the hotel, conducted tours through the suite.Other postcards in this promotional set included the hotel's exterior at 12th and Baltimore; the main lobby with tall potted palms, oriental rugs, wide mirrors, lounge chairs and softly lighted desks and tables; the glamorous Café Trianon, with tables set in white linen damask and with fresh flowers; the Plantation Grill (later known as the Terrace Grill), a few steps down from the main lobby. Now undergoing complete renovation, the hotel will not be reopened for at least a year.Kansas City TimesApril 11, 1986
