Description: Chapters of the book about the overland mail services from Saint Joseph to the Far West in the late 1850s to early 1860s, carried out by the Pony Express of Russell, Majors & Waddell, and by the Central Overland California & Pike's Peak Company of Ben Holladay and Wells Fargo. Copies of their ads and descriptions of the men running the businesses, especially Alexander Majors (1814-1900), Ben Holladay (1819-1887), and their various horse riders and stagecoaches.
