Samuel Owens

Description: Bio of Samuel Owens (1800-1847), a native of Kentucky coming to Jackson County, Missouri, before 1827 and becoming the first Jackson County treasurer. In Independence a leading Santa Fe trader with a general store there. Killed in the Mexican War in 1847 in California.
