Photo, illustrations, and information on Thomas Swope (1827-1909), one of the city's richest bachelors upon arriving here in 1856 as a lawyer with a fortune from discovering copper mines. Owner of "Swope additions" or Swope's Addition between Main and McGee and from 9th to 12th Streets. Also incorporator of the Chamber of Commerce here and a victim of poisoning by his own physician, Dr. B. Clark Hyde.
