Portrait and one paragraph of biography of William Clark (1770-1838), of Lewis and Clark expedition fame. He was born in Virginia and became a military officer, appointed with Meriwether Lewis to explore the Louisiana Territory in 1803, afterwards "appointed Brigadier General of the Militia of the Territory of Upper Louisiana" in 1807, governor of Missouri Territory in 1813, and the first "Superintendent of Indian Affairs" in 1822.
