City Severs Management Contract with Union Station

On December 5th the Kansas City Council passed a unanimous vote to sever a 20-year management agreement with Union Station Kansas City, Inc. As of May 1, 2014, the city's Parks and Recreation Department will take over management and programming at the Kansas City Museum. The relationship between Union Station and the Museum was strained after the recent unexpected firing of museum director Christopher Leitch, as well as the museum losing its accreditation in 2005.

For more than 20 years, Randal Strong-Wallace has been building model roller coasters. Currently his "Project 31: The Roller Coasters of Worlds of Fun," will be on exhibit at the Union Station. Higgins plans to relocate her business from 8027 State Line Road to the Pershing Road location this summer. "The American beaux-arts-style building dates to around 1918." The building was purchased in 1999 by Developer Dan Clothier and fitted out with "red awnings, a checker-board sidewalk plus Guastavino tile."
