Photograph of the Allen School at 706 West 42nd Street circa 1980. Founded in 1853, the school was the first public school in Westport and Kansas City, and pictured building was built in 1912. Renovations to turn the building into a community center focused on senior citizens began in 1980, and the space also provided offices for the ballet and several other organizations.

Photograph of the Montrose Apartments building at the corner of Walnut, 40th, and Main Streets in the early 1980s. The building was designed by Shepard & Wiser and built in 1923. It was demolished in early 1998 and the site used for a parking lot. The Old Westport Cashsaver grocery store can be seen to the north of the building.

The Old Westport Cash Saver grocery store, at 3967 Main, and the Montrose Apartment building, at the corner of 40th, Walnut, and Main Streets, are among the buildings pictured. The Montrose Apartments were demolished in early 1998 and the site was used for a parking lot.

A Kansas City Trolley Corp. trolley, on Nichols Road, is pictured dropping a passenger off at a stop. The company operated free trolleys, circulating riders through Downtown, Crown Center, Westport, and the Plaza beginning in 1984 through the mid-1990s.
