Description of her life and career, born in Victoria, Canada, and moving to the United States as a newspaper "movie reviewer" and coming to Kansas City in 1921 as the wife of Rufus Crosby Kemper, becoming involved in many clubs and organizations, including co-founding the Westport Garden Club.

Native of Iowa raised in Kansas City at 920 Central Street before beginning "her teaching career at Franklin Elementary School at [14th Street] and Washington streets just two blocks from her home at 1229 Washington Street" and transferring to Westport High School around 1900.

Description of her life and career, moving to Hollywood with her mother in 1922 as aspiring actresses and appearing in her first movie in 1930, "Hell's Angels," soon becoming "Hollywood's most glamorous star" in other films such as "Bombshell," "Dinner at Eight," and, with James Cagney, "The Public Enemy."
