The restaurant and bar opened in 1975 in the building that was the former Doerschuk pharmacy. An establishment called the Old Stanley opened in 1987 under new ownership in the space after the New Stanley closed in 1985.

Photograph circa 1980s of the single family home at 1032 West 55th Street. Sometimes referred to as the Bent-Ward Home, it was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 as the Frederick Campbell Residence, Ward House and on the the Kansas City Register of Historic Places in 1985. The home was originally built in the 1850s by William Bent on land that served as part of the battleground during the Battle of Westport. The home was bought by Seth E. Ward in 1871, who made additions to the home. Restoration was begun in 1949 by Dr. and Mrs. Frederick B. Campbell.
