Photo and biographical description of Reverend Robert Smith Symington, or Robert Symington (1819-1901), the first pastor of the Central Presbyterian Church of Kansas City from 1857 to 1860. Native of Indiana coming to Independence, Missouri in 1849 as a Presbyterian missionary and organizing "churches in Sibley, Pleasant Hill and Westport" and evangelizing across northern Missouri before being appointed to Kansas City in 1857 and leaving for California in 1874 for health reasons.
