The high school was built in 1908, and the middle school was built in 1924 as a junior high school, and served as Kansas City Junior College from 1942 to 1969, and then a temporary location for Manual High School from 1969 to 1977, then returned to use as a junior high, and later middle, school. Both school buildings were closed by the Kansas City School District in 2010, and sold to private developers in 2014.

Photograph circa 1980s of the single family home at 1032 West 55th Street. Sometimes referred to as the Bent-Ward Home, it was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 as the Frederick Campbell Residence, Ward House and on the the Kansas City Register of Historic Places in 1985. The home was originally built in the 1850s by William Bent on land that served as part of the battleground during the Battle of Westport. The home was bought by Seth E. Ward in 1871, who made additions to the home. Restoration was begun in 1949 by Dr. and Mrs. Frederick B. Campbell.

Sometimes referred to as the Bent-Ward Home, it was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 as the Frederick Campbell Residence, Ward House and on the the Kansas City Register of Historic Places in 1985. The home was originally built in the 1850s by William Bent on land that served as part of the battleground during the Battle of Westport. The home was bought by Seth E. Ward in 1871, who made additions to the home. Restoration was begun in 1949 by Dr. and Mrs. Frederick B. Campbell. Located in the Sunset Hill neighborhood.
