"Originally from Germany, George Wiedenmann's family settled in the Westport area in 1854. While Wiedenmann was growing up, his grandfather owned a grocery at Westport Road and Pennsylvania Avenue called Wiedenmann's Brothers Grocery--in the historic building that is now Kelly's Westport Inn." Wiedenmann was a member of the Westport Historical Society and he worked for Russell Stover Candies for 25 years.

Wiedenmann, descendents of a pioneer family from Germany who settled in 1854 in Westport. Her grandparents store is now Kelly's Westport Inn. She was married to Perrin D. "Mac" McElroy, public administrator of Kansas City who preceded her in death in 1963.
