The copies were sent to Adrienne Christopher, a descendant of Daniel Yoacham also. The vertical files in this collection were formerly a part of the department's regular vertical files.

John C. McCoy

Photos, illustrations, and information on John Calvin McCoy, or John McCoy (1811-1889), a native of Indiana arriving in the area in 1830 and responsible for establishing Westport in 1833. Opened a store the next year with goods delivered by steamboat. Secretary of the Kansas Town Company as the "first town lot subdivider." Also assisted the great gold discovery of John Sutter on the journey to California.
