Affordable Housing Replaces Dangerous Blight in Blue Hills

Partners in the Woodland Redevelopment Project broke ground June 2003 for the construction of affordable housing on the former site of the Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged in the Blue Hills Neighborhood. It's 4.25 acres from 53rd to 54th Streets, Woodland to Highland Avenues. Little Sisters of the Poor had occupied the site for 60 years until 1982. Demolition of the buildings, one of the largest projects the city has ever undertaken, occurred in 1999.
