Biographical sketch of Samuel Franklin Scott, or Samuel Scott, a real estate developer in Kansas City. Born in Canada in 1849 and emigrating to Wisconsin as a Union soldier in the Civil War before coming to Kansas City in 1868 as a realtor, later becoming "the first postmaster to occupy the new government building" in 1898.
