Established by Arthur Edwin Stilwell, or Arthur Stilwell (1859-1928), "founder of the Kansas City Southern Railroad" and the Kansas City Suburban Belt Railroad "for the elite of Kansas City" in 1897 and named "for his friend, August Janssen, a Dutch capitalist who had large investments in Kansas City." Photos and captions about the following residences there: (1) the Lynn Banks home built in 1917 at 88 Janssen Place and owned in 1964 by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smithers, (2) the W. C. Bowman home at 96 Janssen Place and owned in 1964 by Mrs. Lou Roberts and Mrs. Lou Caceras, (3) the A. Rosenberger home built in 1913 at 17 Janssen Place and owned in 1964 by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lawson, and (4) the Blanche Bachelor home built in 1911 at 27 Janssen Place and owned in 1964 by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kostelac, etc.
