Engineers and transportation planners are studying whether to replace or rehab the Lewis and Clark Viaduct. Opened in 1907, the viaduct spans the Kansas River and connects downtown Kansas City, Missouri, and Kansas City, Kansas. It currently handles approximately 45,000 vehicles per day. Some sections have been found to be structurally deficient.
