Description of his move to Missouri during the War of 1812, then starting in wagon freighting along the Santa Fe Trail from Independence, trapping in New Mexico and Arizona, helped in the building of Bent's Fort in 1831, traveled as a guide into the Rocky Mountains and California after the Mexican War, served for the Union in the Civil War, and was buried in Taos, New Mexico, with illustrations.
