Maddux received his medical training at the University of Kansas and "in the Wheatley hospital branch of Mercy hospital," established by Dr. Katharine Richardson.

Information about the hospital is part of the contents. Also contains a typed letter to Mrs. Ellis from Lena M. Dagley, dated June 5, 1935. A printed hospital report for the year 1941 and a publication of the Mercy Hospital Century Club announcing a benefit featuring the Dorothy Perkins Dancers are also in the folder.
