The Sister Cities program marks its 50th anniversary starting July 13, 2006. A museum-quality tapestry which spans 17 feet by 8 feet adorns the Kansas City Council chambers. It depicts a scene concerning Seville, Spain in 1248. Seville, Spain was Kansas City's first sister city which persented the tapestry in 1969 as a gift. The artist of the work is Senora Gloria H. de Rollan. A street in Seville called Avenida de Kansas City is one of the city's busiest thoroughfares. Includes a photograph of the tapestry.

Kansas City City Hall opened October 25, 1937, with a height of 423 feet and 30 stories. Located on 12th Street, bounded by Oak, Locust, 11th and 12th Streets. Built with a PWA grant of $1,575,000 for the building and $1,64,827 for the plaza and garage. Contract awarded to Swenson Construction Company. Architects Wight & Wight. PWA grants on the building amounted to 45 of the total cost of labor and materials, with all excavation work done by federal relief labor.
