Listed under the title, "An Example of Improvement in Retail District," this photo appeared in the February 18, 1936, "Kansas Citian." It shows the store front with current fashions. The caption below the picture reads: "These new show windows installed by the Pecks store are representative of many such improvements in the retail shopping district. Investments in new facilities have reflected steadily improving trade conditions here and confidence in continued betterment of retail sales. The Pecks modernization program totals approximately $400,000. The Swenson Construction Co. is doing the work." Pecks was located on the northwest corner of Main and 11th streets. Formerly it was the Doggett Dry Goods Store, and in 1901 the name changed to the George B. Peck Dry Goods Company, and later simply called Pecks.
