In this reprint of a paper presented at The International Commission on the History of Geological Sciences Symposium, Dublin, Ireland, the author describes crinoid specimens unearthed during the excavation of the Emery, Bird Thayer Building in 1889. Amateur paleontologists Edward Butts and Sidney Hare, were responsible for preserving the fossils and alerting the scientific community.
