Ezra Meeker's March to Washington, March-December 1907
-
Description
-
It has been 100 years since Ezra Meeker's 1906 Old Oregon Trail Monument Expedition. "Meeker had undertaken the trip in order to promote the importance of the Oregon Trail in American history, place markers along its route, and lobby for a national highway paralleling its path." The finding of Meeker's lost papers as well as his published accounts of his journey provide what is needed to examine the last part of his 1906 travels from Indiana to Washington, D.C., where he met with President Theodore Roosevelt. Includes numerous photographs taken along the way of his journey to Washington, D.C.
