A memorial of polished, black granite honoring black veterans in all conflicts will be unveiled by the parks department and Enshriners on Sunday, September 12, 2010. Located in the median on The Paseo between 11th and 12th streets, the plaque reads: "This plaza is dedicated to honor black Americans who have served and are serving America with unsung distinction in our quest for freedom and peace around the world."

Photograph and article about the dedication of the Missouri Korean War Veterans Memorial located in Washington Square Park, Kansas City, Missouri. The memorial is a result of the efforts of James Shultz, a Korean War veteran. J.E. Dunn Construction oversaw the project. The article indicates that "some 37,000 Americans died, with 8,000 more still unaccounted for. Those numbers included at least 900 Missourians, 100 of whom came from the Kansas City area."
