Proposed Charter and Minutes of Highland University
-
Description
-
The first section of this roll of microfilm contains the handwritten proposed charter of Highland University and minutes of the Board of Trustees, December 19, 1857, to November 12, 1868. It is noted on the microfilm that the original records are in the possession of Fenn Ward, Highland, Kansas. This note is dated October 15, 1958. The school was located in Highland, Doniphan County, Kansas, in the upper northeast corner of the state and within two miles of the older mission. It was under the care of the Highland Presbytery and ministered to the Sac and Fox Indians in that area. The school was chartered by the Territorial Legislature of Kansas in 1857 and was called Highland Presbyterial Academy.
