Just Off Broadway Theatre Gets Larger Home
-
Description
-
Thanks to tax increment financing dollars from the Federal Reserve's new regional headquarters just south of Penn Valley Park, the Just Off Broadway Theatre has been able to "dramatically enhance the building at 3051 Central St." The former barn and stable used by the Kansas City parks deparment since the early 1900s has been the venue for the theater since the early 1990s when the wooden portion of the building burned. With insurance money, the theater was built within the remaining stone walls, but it lacked many amenities. Includes a picture from 1945 of the stone and wood horse stable and maintenance barn and another showing the new construction for the additional space.
