The Ramos Lincoln Collection vertical files have two files for Lafayette Tillman. One contains correspondence from Tillman to his wife, Portia, daughter June, and to his attorney, concerning his pension. There is a card from Nagasaki, Japan, sent in 1901 and letters from Camp Haskell in Georgia, San Francisco, and the Philippines, while in the service. The second file has photographs.

"With marble hallways and the smell of fresh paint, Kansas City's new, state-of-the-art regional police training academy opened to 98 police cadets" on September 17, 2007. While the academy will be used to train local cadets and serve as an advanced training site for police officers, it is expected to be a training destination for police officers across the nation. The facility sits on 120 acres located in the Northland at Pleasant Valley Road and North Shoal Creek Parkway.

Article about the Kansas City Police Department's Mounted Patrol Section. Currently the patrol has 10 horses and 9 officers. The patrol began as a nonprofit organization in 2003 and was absorbed into the police department in 2006. "With the horses they're able to get to places that the cars cannont get to or even the motorcycles," and people are more likely to approach a patrolman on horseback. The horses are a great public realtions tool as well.
