Article provides a brief history of the Chindowan newspaper, published in Quindaro, Kansas, beginning in 1857 through at least 1859. The author of the article describes being given a copy of the February 19, 1859, edition of the Chindowan and provides the following list of topics covered within the publication: the Pacific Railroad, why Quindaro is not a river port, the county election ticket, European war news, and a John Brown story. The author states that the newspaper was established in 1857 by John M. Walden, who relocated to Ohio before the Chindowan ceased publication and eventually became a bishop in the Methodist Episcopal Church. It is written that publication temporarily ceased following his departure and that it was later revived by a group of investors.
