Historical article about the Jackson Jubilee Singers, a group of African American performers from Western University (Quindaro, KS) who toured the U.S. and Canada during the first half of the twentieth century. The Singers, under the direction of Dean Robert G. Jackson, helped promote the music department of the University through their uplifting performances and helped preserve black spiritual music. The article profiles several former students of Western University which closed its doors in 1944.
