Q.: Is the Oldham Road That Runs Through Swope Park Named for the Founder of Oldham's Sausage?
-
Description
-
Ruby Oldham of Lee's Summit thinks the road in Swope Park was named for a relative of her late husband, Charles Quincy Oldham, the founder of Oldham's Farm Sausage Inc. Kansas City records don't say. However, another Oldham Road, in Lee's Summit, was named for the sausage maker, who served on the Lee's Summit City Council and was mayor from 1956 to 1964. Oldham began his sausage business in 1940, his wife said. ..By the early 1950s, Oldham was selling sausage throughout Missouri. He retired from the company in 1972 and died in January 1980.
