Historic Club Seeks New Home
-
Description
-
Article about Rockhill Tennis Club's departure from 4520 Kenwood Avenue also tells about the history of the Club and building. At its previous location, 48th and Oak, the Club was host to the 1928 Davis Cup and tournaments that attracted many of the biggest tennis stars of its day. Neighbors fought the move to Kenwood in 1955 but opposed its ouster by the Nelson-Atkins Museum. The Club has purchased the former Nelly Don home but has met opposition from neighbors in the Crestwood area.
