Each card is 4 x 7 cm. and shows a portrait of and identifies an athlete and, usually, their sport. All but one card says: "Allen and Ginter's Cigarettes, Richmond. Virginia." Billiards, shooting, boxing, rowing, and baseball are included. Athletes shown: Shooters, Miss Annie Oakley, Capt. A. H. Bogardus, Dr. W. F. Carver;Billiard players, M. Advertising card for Conover Brothers Co. showing a girl in coat and hat leaning down in the snow to touch a dead bird. Front of card is damaged. Front lower right corner has number 705 and lower left corner says: "Bufford." Back of card says: "Conover Brothers Co., Manufacturers of Piano Fortes...Indorsed [sic] by the following Eminent Musicians / Rive-King, Lillian Nordica, Clara E. Colby, Ella F. Backus, Anton Strelezki, Robt. Goldbeck, Geo. W Morgan, E. M. Bowman, Frank P. Fisk, G. Morosini, Geo. A. Parker, Geo. W. Steele, Chas. Konkel, Dr. S. N. Penfield, H. M. Bosworth, Earnest Hartmen." It also has two paragraphs about Conover's improvements to pianos: "From the Musical Courier / New York, July 13th, 1887." Address given on back of card: South Western Agency, Conover Bros., Kansas City, Mo. No street address is given.
