Photograph of the Kansas City Athenaeum building at the corner of Campbell St. and Linwood Boulevard circa 1981. The building, designed by architect Samuel Tarbet and opened in 1914, serves was the home for the Kansas City Women's Athenaeum Club, which was founded in 1894 and focused on cultural programming for local women. With club membership dwindling, the building was sold to the Kansas City alumnae chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority in 2015. The LaSalle apartment building, a 14-story building which served as apartments, a hotel, and senior housing and was demolished in 2001, can be seen to the east of the Athenaeum.

Photograph of the Kansas City Athenaeum building at the corner of Campbell St. and Linwood Boulevard circa 1981. The building, designed by architect Samuel Tarbet and opened in 1914, serves as the home for the Kansas City Women's Athenaeum Club, which was founded in 1894 and focused on cultural programming for local women. With club membership dwindling, the building was sold to the Kansas City alumnae chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority in 2015. The LaSalle apartment building, seen in the photograph with the name Defenders' Townhouse, Inc., was a senior housing facility at 922 Linwood. The 14-story building also served as apartments and a hotel and was demolished in 2001.

Next to that building is 540 - 538 Olive Street, a two-story duplex. To the north of that is a single family home at 536 Olive Street, built in 1890. Next to that is a two-story duplex which was demolished sometime after the photo was taken. The next visible home, to the north, is 526 Olive Street, built in 1890. Located in the Pendleton Heights neighborhood.

Photograph looking south down the alley between an apartment building at 609-11 West 33rd Street and the Browne's Irish Market building at 300 Pennsylvania Avenue in the early 1980s. The building which houses Browne's Irish Market stands east of the apartment building, at the left of the image. This apartment and the Browne's building are two of the few buildings remaining on their block after a effort in the 1970s and early 1980s by the Kansas City Life Insurance Company to redevelop the area into an office park.

Photograph circa 1980s of the apartment building at 100-06 West Armour Boulevard. Built in 1902-03 and designed by architect John W. McKecknie, it underwent a major renovation sometime after 2012 and has been renamed as The Colonnade Apartments, along with the apartment buildings on the rest of the block, west toward Wyandotte Street. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Armour Boulevard Multiple Resource Area in 1983 and on the the Kansas City Register of Historic Places as part of the Old Hyde Park Historic District in 1994. Located in the Midtown neighborhood.

Photograph of the Mabry Hall building at 4112-14 Pennsylvania Avenue, circa 1980. At the time of the photo, the building was owned by Ace Dickinson, who operated Ace's Rock Shop and Museum on the ground floor. The building is arguably the oldest extant commercial building in Kansas City, with some claiming it was constructed in 1843. Other sources suggest a date closer to 1850.

Photograph of a building at 3245-3249 Main, on the northeast corner of Main Street and Warner Plaza, circa 1981. A sign reading "The Right Drink at the Right Price" hangs on Milton's Tap Room jazz club at 3241 Main and can be seen on the adjacent building at the left of the image, and a section of the Warner Plaza apartments are visible at the right. A twin building stood across Warner Plaza to the south. The area, south of Linwood Boulevard to 34th Street, between Main and Gillham, was deemed blighted and ridden with crime in drugs in the late 1980s, and these buildings, as well as other homes, apartments, and commercial buildings, were demolished in the early and mid-'90s as part of the so-called "Glover Plan" to be replaced by the Midtown Marketplace development, a large commercial development anchored by big box retailers Home Depot and Costco.

3825-3849 Main Street

Photograph of the 3800 block of Main Street, including the Normandy Building at 3825-37 Main, the Monarch Storage Warehouse at 3829 Main, and the Netherlands Hotel and apartment building at 3835 Main, circa 1982. The Monarch Building was designed in 1921 by architect C. B. Sloan, and the metal facade on the lower two levels was added in 1963. The building housed the American White Goods Company at the time of the photograph.The 3835 Main building opened as the Tocama Apartments in 1928 and designed by architect Robert F. Gornall, and was in 1931 was renamed the Netherlands Hotel, continuing to serve as an apartment building and hotel. It was vacant at the time of this photograph after the city deemed it a dangerous building. Shortly thereafter, it was renovated and renamed the Hawthorne Plaza Apartments. A section of the boarded-up Hyde Park Building is also visible at the right edge of the photograph.
