The building was home to assorted retail outlets, including a record store and sewing machine repair shop, as well as offices on the second floor. The Sarachon Hooley retail/office building stands to its north, at 4526-32 Main, and the Hillcrest Apartments building can be seen at 4520-24 Main. The latter two buildings were later demolished for the construction of the Fountain View (later American Century) office towers circa 1992.

Photograph of the intersection of Westport Road and Pennsylvania Avenue circa 1923. Wiedenmann Brothers Grocery Store, at 500 Westport Road, can be seen on the northwest corner of the intersection, and Doerschuk's Prescription Drug Store, at 501 Westport, is on the southwest corner. Signs reading "Mogul Overalls" hang on the building at 433 Westport, on the southeast corner, which was the home to Klein's clothing store. The northeast corner, a vacant lot at the time of the photo, was the original location of the pre-Civil War Harris-Kearney House, a hotel and later a private home, which was moved to a location several blocks away in 1922. It was replaced by a commercial building shortly thereafter.

Article reports that the Invanhoe nieghborhood has gained a new corner grocery store, World Harvest Learning Center/Good Natured Local Market, at 3400 Woodland Avenue. It is reported that the building was built in the 1920s as a Jewish funeral home, that the faith-based grocery store is a partnership with World Harvest Ministries, and that it was started by Pastor Terry Glenn, and Good Natured Family Farms. It is indicated that the church will manage the store's daily operations. The article states that the store will sell hormone-free meats and fresh produce, including locally grown cabbage, tomatoes, peaches, jars of dill pickles, and apple butter. The store partners state that they hope to influence the neighborhood to adopt healthful eating habits.
