Three interior and exterior photographs of the Isis Theatre in the Wirthman Building on the southwest corner of 31st Street and Troost Avenue. The left hand photograph shows an exterior view of the Isis Theatre looking northwest along Troost Avenue. Several people standing in the street can be seen. Signs for B&G Hosiery, Bo-Peep Juvenile Shop, Walker's Lunch, Vogue Hosiery, and Linwood State Bank are in view. The middle photograph shows an interior view of the Isis Theatre. The right hand photograph shows an exterior view looking southwest along Troost Avenue. Several people standing in the street can be seen. Signs for Dr. John R. Stivers, L. L. Potts Dentist, Royal Shirt Shop, Thom McAn, Vogue Hosiery, and B&G Hosiery are in view. A Troost streetcar is in view. A label beneath the photograph reads: The Isis Theatre was destroyed by fire on March 9, 1939 and was re-opened to the public on October 6, 1939. The 3100 block on Troost Avenue was closed to traffic and it was estimated that 25,000 people attended the celebration.

Photograph of the Gem Theater at 1615 East 18th Street in the early 1990s. Built in 1912, the theater operated as a movie theater until 1960. It was refurbished into a performing arts theater, opening in 1997. The murals in the front windows were painted circa 1988 by artist Frederick Crawford.

Built in the early 1910s, it closed as a theatre in the early-1950s and at the time of the photo housed a Beauty School. The building was destroyed by a fire in 2011. Located in the Indian Mound neighborhood.

The Madrid Theater, at 3806-3810 Main, was designed by Besecke and Defoe and opened in 1926 as movie palace, complete with Wurlitzer organ. The theater closed by the early 1950s, and served as a furniture and rug retailer for a number of years. The building was vacant at the time of this photo, and has a sign promoting Jim Kenworthy, "Democrat for Congress," hanging on the front. The Madrid was renovated and reopened in 2001 as a venue for live music and other events. Superior Sound, at 3814 Main, provided audio equipment for performance venues and other businesses.
