The Northeast area hosts its own cycling tour called the Cliff Drive Classic Bicycle Race. It was to be held on August 14, 2004. "Cliff Drive Classic circuit races start and finish at the north end of Concourse Park and loop west across the Lexington Bridge, up to the Reservoir, then wind back towards the Kansas City Museum up the grueling 'Gooseneck' and past the Hillcrest Apartments."

Born in Minnesota in 1868 and coming to Kansas City in 1871 as a grocer with John Moriarty "at the corner of [Saint Louis Avenue] and Mulberry street." Pioneer of "the bicycle era" with his own bike dealership before founding "the E. P. Moriarty Company, which later became the Moriarty Motor Company," with residence at 6024 Morningside Drive.
