In the "Castle's View" column, the game of bocce ball is discussed. This lawn bowling game was once a very popular sport with the Italians who settled in the Northeast area. It is still popular in this area today. There are still two outdoor courts in Columbus Park and indoor courts at the American Sons of Columbus building at 2415 Independence Avenue. The rules of the game are explained and a picture is included.

Obituary for Sam Molen who died at Girard, Illinois, on August 8, 2008, at age 92. According to the obituary, "Sam served as president of K. L. Broadcasting Corp. (KBEA-KBEY). He was a sports announcer for 30 years, including 17 years as sports director of KMBC, where he developed the 'Bowlin' for Molen' television program that ran 15 years. He also wrote and narrated a nationally syndicated radio sports feature and authored two sports books, 'They Make Me Laugh' and 'Take Two and Hit to the Right'." He joined Southgate Bank in 1969, becoming manager of the marketing division and retired as senior vice president. Includes his picture.
