Obituary of Martha King (89), co-founder of Manhattan Cleaners and Hat Works. The business is reported to have been the first black-owned cleaning plant in Kansas City. King opened the plant with her husband, James, in 1935 near 12th & Vine. The business was later moved to 2216 Vine, where it remained for 50 years.
